Maize & Barley is slated to open early 2019. Husband and wife team, Anthony Kjeldsen and Venus Forteza are the sole proprietors. With extensive backgrounds in the restaurant and beer industries they have long sought to build community one beer at a time by providing a welcoming and relaxing hub for individuals and families seeking to enjoy craft beer, handmade fare with focuses on sustainability and seasonality.
Maize & Barley features a mix of light colors and local handcrafted wood furniture in a communal seating arrangement designed to foster a welcoming atmosphere that brings people together. Maize & Barley features 13 rotating handles for craft beers and ciders as well as a small selection of rotating wines by the glass and seasonal house made syrups for the soda handle.
Maize & Barley’s food concept reflects the diverse spice and culinary influences of French, Spanish and West African cuisine found in the Caribbean. With the same spirit of culinary creativity found in the Caribbean using whatever harvests and bounty available based on the season’s bounty, Maize & Barley will focus on seasonality and locally sourced ingredients to ensure the freshest and best quality ingredients available.
